This annotated bibliography provides a brief summary of the published research works on Healing Touch that can be found in professional journals. The articles are provided in alphabetical order by author following the bibliographical format in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association 5th Ed.

This list of publications is provided for support for the work of Healing Touch in a variety of settings and conditions. The Healing Touch program was built from a practice based discipline and teachings of Janet Mengten, BSN, RN. In 1990 the American Holistic Nurses Association offered the Healing Touch certificate program and developed a professional certification for Healing Touch. Inherent in the professionalism of a healing art was recognition of the value that documenting the benefits and effects of the work would have in order to support the spread of Healing Touch worldwide. The scientific basis of Healing Touch and other energy therapies is found within a variety of professional disciplines and includes, but is not limited to, nursing, medicine, psychology, sociology, and physics. Research into the effects of Healing Touch and its acceptance continues to grow. Information on Healing Touch can be found in a number of nursing textbooks, textbooks on complementary therapies, medical journals, massage journals, nursing journals, cancer care journals for patients, hospital publications, news articles, and magazines for the general public. The information provided here may prove to be useful from both a research and practice perspective.
